Studies in Intercultural Communication

Based on students’ diverse cultural backgrounds, this course offers students opportunities to learn about one another’s cultures and reflect upon their own cultures by studying research in intercultural communication.

Students in the graduate school of applied linguistics come from various cultures. They study and experience intercultural communication in this unique course. Students engage in group discussions and projects to experience intercultural communication first hand in interpersonal interactions while realizing how cultures influence communication by conducting social experiments. They further understand key issues related to intercultural communication in workplaces by reading empirical studies.
